Description
1834 - Delegates of Newcastle County, DE say, "Delegates here assembled, and as so far as they have been able to gather it, of their constituents, that the act of the Secretary of the Treasury in declining to continue to deposite the public money in the vaults of the Bank of the United States is not the real nor adequare cause for the pecuniary embarressment compained of by the community. Believeing as we do that the removal of the deposites of the money of the United States and the efforts to prevent a recharter of said Bank were necessary to protect the liberties of a free people from a powerful and aristocratical moneyed institution, which if not now put down, will heretofore govern our country and reduce the people to a worse than Russian vassalage."Four pages, introductory page attached here.
