1834 -  Citizens of Norfolk County, VA say, "This meeting disapproves of the act of the Executive in causing the public deposites to be withdrawn from the Bank of the United States. There is a great and general pressure throughout this union affecting all classes of the community who obtain their living by honest industry.  The present stagnation of business, in all occupations and commerce, is demonstrated by the deterioration in the value of all the productions of her soil, and all the amost universal complaint of her citizens is to be traced to the withdrawl of the deposites from the Bank of the United States.."
