1834 - Hopkinsville, KY citizens, in favor of a restoration of the public deposits to the Bank of the United States, say "The Executive of the United States, in removing the public deposites from the Unted States Bank, where they had been placed by law, and loaning them to irresponsible state institutions, has assumed authority not granted him by the Constitution or laws."
