1834 -  Citizens of Athens County, OH say, "From our situation, for the interior, we were not among the first to feel the pressure arising from the general derangement of our money concerns.  But we have not been permitted to escape.  Our present condition is that of perplexity and embarrassment; our prospects are still more gloomy and deplorable.  This sudden change we believe to have been principally and more immediate produced by the removal of the deposites."
