Description

1875 - "Whereas on the 4th of January, officers and soldiers of the Army of the United States have interferred with and controlled the organization of the general assemby of the State of Louisana, and certain persons claiming seats in one branch thereof have been prevented from holding the same by such military force and have received the sanction and ratification of the Chief Executive of the United States.  Such intervention was in violation of the federal Constitution, we therefore, in the name of the people of the United States, demand the restoration of tranquility, order and civil disciple by immediate withdrawl of the military force of the United State from said state, and consign punishment of those guilty of this reckless usurption."
