General Sickles life history is lengendary- he shot Francis Scott Keys grandson for fooling around with his younger wife, Major General who lost the battle of Chancellorsville for the Union and almost lost the battle of Gettysburg for the Union. He lost his leg at Gettysburg and was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Was the US Consul to Spain and had an Affair with the Queen Carlotta. Through his political dealings he saved the Gettysburg Battlefield as a it is pretty much today. The photograph measures 6 1/2 inch by 4 3/8 inch.
