    CIVIL WAR WILLIAM C WILSON CO F ALABAMA 16TH INF POW DIED AT CAMP DOUGLAS ILL
    Vintage, original albumen photograph on CDV from the Civil War from 1861 of William C. Wilson of Company F of the Alabama 16th Infantry.   From Franklin County Alabama, one of three sons of Bryce and Mary Wilson to serve with the Alabama 16th.  His oldest brother James E., was an officer with Company H and left a diary from the war.  He noted on 12 April 1863 having visited with brother William, and in November of that year William was captured during the Battle of Missionary Ridge, was confined at Camp Douglas and died there in 1864.   After the war his father recovered his body for burial at home.  Photographed by S. Anderson in New Orleans prior to the fall of that city, and in near fine condition, trimmed at bottom.  From the William S. Jones family album of Franklin County, Alabama, with whom the Wilsons were related.
