    Civil War Era CDV of Union Brig. General George Dashiell Bayard, KIA
    Here is a Civil War Era CDV of Union Brigadier General George Dashiell Bayard (B: Dec. 18, 1835, D:Dec. 14, 1862), Chief of Cavalry, Left Grand Division, Army of the Potomac. The CDV has a backmark from C. D. Fredericks & Co. in New York. Bayard was mortally wounded on December 13, 1862, during the Battle of Fredericksburg, and succumbed to his wounds the next day. Bayard died just four days before his 27th birthday and was buried in Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, New Jersey, a few days before he was due to have been married to his fiancé.
