Circa 1865 Antique Civil War CDV (carte-de-visite) Photograph.  Depiction of US NAVY officer Admiral SAMUEL FRANCIS DU PONT in uniform.  Published by E. & H. T. Anthony of New York from a Mathew Brady negative in BRADY'S National Portrait Gallery (see backmark).  Period pencil written identification on mount and/or reverse.  Two cent Civil War era duty stamp on the reverse.  Research indicates that Admiral Du Pont began service with the US Navy at the age of 12 years old as midshipman.  He served during the Mexican-American War and American Civil War.  Condition: light surface soiling, occasional dings, scuffs, edge wear and foxing spots.  occasional trimmed edges and/or corners.  Please see photos for additional condition review.
