    Description

Antique Civil War Tintype Photograph-Pistol Armed Ohio Soldier-Shafer?  Tintype is a 1/6 plate in a half dag case.  Overall image is in good++ condition .  Was shellacked to preserve.  Image came out of NE Ohio (Rittman area).  Was found at an estate sale in an old
1800's Bible that was in very poor condition (non-salvageable) and in the 'deaths' page of the bible was the photo (I actually put in a dag case)
    .
The family name was Shafer and there are numerous names on here so you may be able to id the soldier.
    Piece of old
    newspaper also stuck
    on back mentions Ohio.
    The bible 'deaths' p
    age will be
    included. Overall
the image is fairly crisp, although there is age, light mottling and some mild wear.  Soldier  is in uniform with gold tinted belt buckle,
has tinted blue pants,  holding his slouch hat, holster on belt, and a small Colt pocket pistol gun,  Please see pics!
