    1865 Antique Civil War CDV (carte-de-visite) Photograph.  Superb three-quarter length portrait of General U. S. GRANT in uniform with hand in his pocket.  This photograph was taken shortly after the assassination of President Lincoln, and Grant can be seen wearing a long black crepe mourning ribbon on his left arm.  Photograph by F. Gutekunst of Philadelphia, PA (see backmark).  Period pencil written identification on mount and/or reverse.  Two cent Civil War era duty stamp on the reverse.  Condition: light surface soiling, occasional dings, scuffs, edge wear and foxing spots.  Please see photos for additional condition review.
